Resources

We have created this section in our website because we feel that it is important for the customer to be armed with a considerable amount of knowledge before making any decisions or spending significant amounts of money on avoidable expenses in the face of their loss.  We realize that it is usually an immediate family member or close friend who is weighted with the daunting task of turning the final page on the life of their loved one.  We also recognize the fact that the majority of people have never done this before and have little or no knowledge of what to expect in either costs or procedures.

All too often, we observe, first hand, folks being taken advantage of while in the course of making final care arrangements for their loved one.  Some of these folks have relayed their stories to us, in tears, and in pain.  In this section we hope to be able to help you by providing you with valuable information and also by educating you so that this process can go as smoothly as possible without added suffering.

Use this section any way that suits you. Even if you have already passed some of the steps, we recommend still reading the sections as you may learn something new that will help you correct a situation or deal with anything in the future pertaining to that item.

We guarantee you that the information we offer can potentially save you thousands– even many thousands of dollars — but more importantly we know that you can avoid more GRIEF and STRESS by knowing what we know about this industry.

 Disclaimer:

We stand behind all of what we say in these documents but absolutely recommend you confirm these claims by talking directly with everyone within the industry that you are considering. By law, most must provide all offerings in writing and therefore can be proved easily.

Because of folks like us who are applying pressure in this area by informing the public, some companies MAY choose to change their policies – thereby making our claims not perfectly factual at any given time. Therefore, we again stress that you can verify or disprove any claims we make in this section. We will try to keep up with any changes.

 Are we that nice?

In today’s world it is understandable and sometimes beneficial to be skeptical of folks claiming to “want to help” you. We have seen this in most all industries. What we learned was that there are some companies who are ‘less than ethical’ about their ways, but most are above board. These companies truly compiled very helpful information for their clients. In exchange, most merely want you to consider their company when looking for the products they offer within that industry.

What do I need to know?

We have simplified this to what we perceive are the core items you will have to handle when a loved one passes: Funeral Services, Purchase of Final Resting Place (Burial Ground), and Memorialization.   Most folks do do all three.

The Law does NOT require or mandate the purchase of any of these items; however, there are specific laws to follow in the handling of human remains.  For instance, if your loved one chose to be cremated you are not required to bury them. Many folks choose to keep those ashes in their homes. Therefore, you are NOT required to purchase land from a cemetery. If you do choose to purchase land from a cemetery they may have a requirement that a memorial of some kind must eventually be placed, however the Law is that you do not have to purchase the lot from them at all.
