Size and Finish:
Several factors can determine the size and finish of the memorial. One aspect to consider to determine size is whether the marker will be for one person or two, and whether or not it be placed on a single or double site in the cemetery. Eastern Memorials likes to work with their customers to find out what kind of design and writings they are interested in, and, taking cost into consideration, plans out the design while closely staying within budget.
Finishes of the monument can include: All Polished, Polished Front and Back, or Polished Front, Top and Back. Finish is usually a personal choice, but there are some colors of monuments that show better all polished. Other finishes can include: Steeled and rock pitched. Dusted panels, raised or sunken lettering, sandblasting or handcarved are also other options to consider when purchasing a monument.
Color:
Eastern Memorials provides a wide range of colors both domestic and imported. Granite colors include, Georgia Gray, Black, Red, Pink, Bahama Blue, Himalaya Rose, Tropical Green, Daisy Blue, Hassan Green, India Gray, Mist Black and many more. To view a sample of imported colors, please view the Excel Granite website at www.excelgranites.com.
Shape:
Memorials can come in many different shapes. Most monuments are traditional shaped monuments which consist of a tablet and base. The traditional upright tablet has 3 standard types of tops. Flat, Oval, and Serpentine. We also can provide you with any shape or customized cut monument at your request. It is a good idea to keep in mind what your cemetery will allow before looking at shapes other than the traditional types.
Design and Symbolism:
When designing a monument, the purchaser must remember that a monument is a memorial to life. Keeping this in mind, we can create a monument design using drawings, writings and imagery that truly pays its honor and respect to their loved one and represents him/her to greatest extent possible.
Portraits:
In addition to lettering and design, we also offer ceramic photos that can be attached to the monument. The portraits are available in a variety of sizes, can be in color, or black and white and can be purchased with or without a frame. A photo on a monument can often bridge future generations with past ones, or bring the departed to life. For more detailed information about our portraits, please view the portrait website at www.psm.qc.ca.
Etching:
Besides ceramic photos, Eastern Memorials offers a couple of other types of imagery including etchings and photoblast. An etching is done, freehand, by our resident artist, using a diamond tool to ‘scratch’ the surface of the monument the same way a painter strokes the canvas with the brush. An etching on a headstone can be something as simple as a drawing of a person, or a highly ornate landscaping scene that you can see by clicking here. The third means of imagery that Eastern uses is called Photo Blast. This technique achieves the same result as the etching, except it reproduces the original artwork exactly.
Price:
Price of the memorial can range from the competitive economically priced memorial to the exclusively luxuriously priced monument. Regardless of the price, Eastern produces all monuments using the same care, thoughtfulness and attention to detail that is essential and expected.
Bronze:
Eastern Memorials offers an assortment of bronze markers. Our Bronze pricing is very competitive and provides savings to our clients, particularly those who require any foreign language inscription. We DO NOT charge extra for more lines of inscription. We work directly with the art department at the foundry with artwork created with the clients. This is a major advantage for Foreign Language customers. Our turnaround time is unmatched. To view photos regarding Bronze memorials, please view the Matthews website at www.matthewsbronze.com.

Our pets are our family too! Let us help you to remember your special pet by making a small pet memorial with your pet's name engraved on it. Our pet's bring us great amounts of joy, comfort and unconditional love. Most of us want to keep a memory of them alive.

"Quiet and sincere sympathy is often the most welcome and efficient consolation to the afflicted. Said a wise man to one in deep sorrow, "I did not come to comfort you; God only can do that; but I did come to say how deeply and tenderly I feel for you in your affliction." Tyron Edwards
